Christina Hendricks: A Letter to Men

Just added in the gallery 2 pictures from Christina Hendricks‘ photoshoot for Esquire. Plus an extract from her interview with the magazine: some really great words about men, love and marriage!

We love your body. If we’re in love with you, we love your body. Your potbelly, everything. Even if you’re insecure about something, we love your body. You feel like you’re not this or that? We love your body. We embrace everything. Because it’s you.

Speaking of your body, you don’t understand the power of your own smell. Any woman who is currently with a man is with him partly because she loves the way he smells. And if we haven’t smelled you for a day or two and then we suddenly are within inches of you, we swoon. We get light-headed. It’s intoxicating. It’s heady.

We remember forever what you say about the bodies of other women. When you mention in passing that a certain woman is attractive — could be someone in the office, a woman on the street, a celebrity, any woman in the world, really — your comment goes into a steel box and it stays there forever. We will file the comment under “Women He Finds Attractive.” It’s not about whether or not we approve of the comment. It’s about learning what you think is sexy and how we might be able to convey it. It’s about keeping our man by knowing what he likes. Continue reading

Christina Hendricks on the cover of Esquire Magazine

Christina Hendricks will be featured in the May issue of Esquire Magazine.

” The radiant red-haired bombshell from the TV show, “Mad Men”, with the insanely massive knockers is the May 2010 cover girl for Esquire Magazine. In the issue, the magazine took a survey comprised of over 10,000 women and asked them various questions from Politics to sexuality. For the choice of “Best-Looking Woman In America”, over 30% of the vote went to Christina Hendricks (hence the cover)! The other 17% of the “Best-Looking Woman” votes went to Adriana Lima (who is NOT American, mind you) and 14% went to Megan Fox.

In the article, Christina gives out her own personal notes on how to treat a woman. [“No man should be on Facebook” is one of her pieces of advice.]”

Christina Hendricks Awed by High-Tech Hubby

Geoffrey Arend, the new hubby of Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, is mad for gadgets.

Hendricks said Arend, whom she married in October 2009, has tricked out their Los Angeles home with technology that “blows her mind.”

“The house is rigged,” the voluptuous redhead told PEOPLE Thursday at Ann Taylor’s 2010 Fall Fashion collection showing in the lobby of New York’s Ace Hotel. “He’s got a projector in the guest room with the screen that comes down. We watch movies in bed.

“And everything is wireless,” Hendricks, 34, added. “If he goes out of town, I’m in trouble, because I don’t know how everything works.”

But Arend, 32, who played the sidekick pal in (500) Days of Summer, already has a backup plan for his tech-averse wife. “We’ve got a projector set up with streaming video,” he says. “I have this remote control. All you have to do is press the help button and it fixes everything automatically.”

Even with all their newfangled technology, the couple has some old-fashioned views of romance. “I was just thinking the other day, ‘Oh gosh, I just want to go home and read a book in bed next to my husband,’ ” Hendricks said. “And sleep … Oh, I get to do that every day until I die. It’s a nice feeling.”

Added Arend: “Having the ring on my finger it makes me realize this is the person I’ve chosen for the rest of my life. So everything that was a small little problem that could have turned into a fight, just sort of disappeared. We’re both very happy.”

Barbie goes Mad Men

After three seasons, “Mad Men,” the television series about advertising in the 1960s, has attained a level of popular-culture cachet. There have been magazine cover articles, calendars and an episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” all devoted to it, spoofs on “The Simpsons” and “Saturday Night Live,” and even a “Mad Men” category on “Jeopardy.”

Soon, the show will enter a realm of the pop-culture pantheon that its creator, Matthew Weiner, says has surprised even him: Mattel plans to bring out versions of Barbie and Ken styled after four “Mad Men” characters.

The dolls are part of a premium-price collectors’ series for adults that Mattel calls the Barbie Fashion Model Collection. Although there have been Barbies and Kens based on other TV series, among them “I Love Lucy” and “The X-Files,” the dolls will be the first licensed line for that collection, Mattel says, with a suggested retail price of $74.95 each.

Mattel is licensing rights to the characters from Lionsgate, the studio that produces “Mad Men” for the AMC cable channel. There will be 7,000 to 10,000 copies of each doll, to be sold in specialty stores and on two Web sites, amctv.com and barbiecollector.com.

The characters to become dolls are Don Draper, the show’s leading man; his wife, Betty; his colleague at the Sterling Cooper agency, Roger Sterling; and Joan Holloway, the agency’s office manager who was Roger’s mistress.

That two dolls represent a relationship outside wedlock, and Don Draper’s propensity for adultery, may be firsts for the Barbie world since the brand’s introduction five decades ago. But for the sake of the Barbie image, her immersion in the “Mad Men” era will go only so far: The dolls come with period accessories like hats, overcoats, pearls and padded undergarments, but no cigarettes, ashtrays, martini glasses or cocktail shakers.
